Microsoft's Office suite has gone through a great many iterations and changes since it originally launched in 1990 and although it's still a favourite of many (not even just Windows users either), it can be difficult to decide which type of Office subscription to go for. Microsoft Office, whether you go for the company's Office 365, Office Online or standard desktop apps offering comprises Word (for word processing), Excel (spreadsheets) and PowerPoint (slide show presentation) – with a few more recent additions, including Access (database), Outlook (email) and OneNote (note-taking).
